About Me
Hello friends! I am Tia Fogle. Over the last 10 years, I have developed a passion for how to integrate fitness and nutrition into my life as I have transitioned to a world outside of organized sports. It is not fitness itself that I am passionate about, but rather, choosing to adopt an active lifestyle that has truly enhanced every aspect of my life. I want to share my passion with others, starting in my own community. Currently, I am not a gym member, so I can tell you that my workouts are relatively minimal equipment, and completely scalable for a wide range of fitness levels. I love to get creative and utilize playgrounds, fields, tracks, benches, stairs and whatever else is at my disposal.
In 2014, I was walking at Lincoln Park in West Seattle and I passed the pull up bar just off the main trail – the same pull up bar I had walked past countless times before. I looked around and there was no one to be seen, so hesitantly, I walked over to see if I could still do a pull up. I couldn’t. Not even one. And I was mortified. Now, depending on your current physical abilities, a pull up may sound like a piece of cake or a farfetched dream, but let me provide some context as to why this was so devastating for me.
I grew up doing competitive gymnastics, and the transition into “normal life”, so to speak, was challenging…both mentally and physically. I lost confidence in my physical abilities, and I felt embarrassed about how far I had let myself deviate from what I deemed athletic. So much so that I shied away from doing anything athletic, I didn’t want to face reality – I became self- conscience about my body, how it looked and how it moved. I avoided all of it.
Back to that day at the park, I made it my commitment to myself to feel comfortable in my own skin again. I started exercising again, then I slowly explored group fitness classes, CrossFit, traditional gyms, spin classes, yoga classes, all to gain traction with my fitness. All experiences were extremely valuable in helping me grow and I have taken a bits and pieces from each to my workouts today. At this point in my life, daily exercise doesn’t feel like a chore or something I am doing for someone else – it feels like the most exciting part of my day and something that I do on autopilot.
I also have a professional life outside of fitness. I attended the University of Washington, where I earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering, and I am a Project Manager at a commercial contractor in Seattle. Prior to my career in construction, I coached competitive gymnastics for 6 years. Teaching and watching others improve and grow has always been a source of joy and fulfillment for me. I would love to bring this back into my life.
As you make your way through this program, please be mindful that I am sharing methods that work for me. I believe that my philosophy can be applied to a wide range of skill levels and lifestyles my goal is to show you how you can eventually reach a consistent and sustainable active lifestyle.
